We are an IT Services Company looking for a person with superior IT knowledge and skills. This position is to service and support our multiple small businesses clients in the metropolitan NYC area. They rely on us for all of their computer and network support. As our senior Network Specialist, this candidate requires independent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange, Communications, Internet Security, Data Backup (including SQL backup) and Blackberry Professional.
Working independently, this person will be asked to maintain existing networks as well as resolve urgent repairs, and address new opportunities as they arise. Day to day responsibilities require skill and flexibility coordinating prompt response to client requests, as well as coordinating with and assisting other technicians in the group.
Much of the work can be performed via RDP, but day to day response often requires travel to customer site.
In addition to having several years experience, the ideal candidate will also have a strategic sense of business, accompanied by personal and written/oral communication skills which are often required to draft a project plan or proposal.
This is a unique opportunity for the right individual to utilize their superior technical skill level and quickly advance towards managing a small group and sharing in the financial reward of the groups’ success. If you have started your own IT business but got burnt out marketing, selling, accounting as well as actually performing all of billable work, you would fit in especially well.
Below are some key items you should be prepared to address in interview:
•Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required. We also value work experience and Industry Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft certifications MCSE 2003, or CCNP, Etc.
•Working knowledge of Server hardware both tower and rack-mount, installation, repairs and support, most frequently with Dell. Strong RAID Array skills for recovery, expansion and repair are essential.
•Independent technical knowledge of Microsoft Networks: Server 2003 & 2008 (both Standard and Small Business), Exchange, Terminal Services, Active Directory, Group Policy, IIS, and all related MS tools and programs.
•Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
•Skilled and experienced with Microsoft Exchange installation, upgrades & support.
•Working knowledge of current network security, including SonicWall firewalls.
•Experience managing data backup & recovery strategies, both local and off site.
•Ability to work with SQL application vendors for troubleshooting and application updates. Conceptual knowledge and experience with SQL database backup.
•PC Desktop expertise with Windows including experience with all Microsoft updates, security patches, etc. including use of WSUS.
•Excellent Interpersonal skills, open, compassionate and understanding technical resource, able to translate technology to non-technical staff and users with the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Car and valid drivers license is required
